Amanda is an artist and educator (formerly, an elementary and middle school teacher) and her work as a cycling instructor fits squarely within these roles. Her class is highly supportive, personalized to each client's ability, mentally and physically engaging, and rooted in dancing and having fun. She considers motivation and music mixing an essential art form for inspiring intensity and effort -- you will put in work while we dance to groove, hip-hop, soulful House, R&B, Pop, Rock n' Soul, and Funk.
Where did you grow up?
New York City!!
It is Friday night - beer, wine, cocktail, or fresh pressed juice?
All of the above - not at the same time.
If you had one last meal, what would you eat?
Do you have a favorite movie or actor/actress?
Queen Latifah, because she makes her own way.
You are stuck in LA traffic - what music are you playing to pass the time?
Honestly, a podcast helps me distract myself in LA traffic jams the best, but I've also been known to get a little chair dance in on an r&b groove.
What first got you into fitness as a lifestyle and career?
What is one of your favorite fitness moments so far in life?
I had been trying to get in to cycling for 2 years, and then I went to a small studio where the music was on point. At that moment I knew that I could start a habit and that music makes all the difference.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
I love tap backs because its an easy dance like move that every body can get funky with. Anything I hate I suspect I should do more of.
What is one of your favorite inspirational quotes?
"You betta work" - Rupaul
What does the word "Sanctuary" mean to you?
A sanctuary is a place that is protected, honored and respected. It operates based on its own values, set aside from the world around it. L.A. can be wild, especially where physicality is concerned. I'm stoked for our own athletic community aside from the rest of what's going on in fitness.
